Looking for Love? How to Make Your Love Life Measure Up!

looking for love

We will get to the ‘looking for love’ details in a hot minute.  But first, let’s engage in a little foreplay.

Most businesses have many metrics or numbers they identify and track to measure success and to understand whether the improvement initiatives they have undertaken are working, or not.

The same thing is true with respect to self-improvement.

Why Do I Need to Measure?

Now obviously you cannot measure everything in your life but there are many aspects that it does make sense to measure.  It gives you a starting point to see how much you have (or haven’t progressed) in whatever self-improvement initiative you have undertaken. It is also a great way to hold yourself accountable and also to track progress over time.

“But I hate numbers!” you say.

Yes, numbers can be frightening and intimidating.  We get it.

Don’t worry, we got your back!  We will keep it simple and actionable (and entertaining, of course!)

Now for dating…

Dating can be a tough, tough game; there is no question. However, by using or at least keeping in mind various metrics, you will at least give yourself the chance to win.

Obviously, there are different stages of the dating process, as well as different intentions and different types of relationships – so clearly there is no universal metric or metrics that will work for everyone.

Keys to Making Metrics Work for You!

So, you are going to need to use whatever metrics work for you and your situation.  However, no matter what metrics you choose they should be:

Easy to measure:  If they aren’t easy to measure you won’t use them.

Related to your objectives:  You will want to make sure they are telling you whether or not you are on the right track.

Actionable:  Whatever metrics you use, make sure you will be able to take action on them should they be going in the wrong direction.

Metrics Can Help When You are Looking for Love

We are going to list a bunch of metrics below that you may want to use for yourself at different stages of the dating process.  Again, figuring out which ones to use will all depend on what you are trying to achieve in your dating life.

We love using analogies to teach.  So, what we are going to do is take metrics that have been successfully used in business and give their definitions, then we will present their dating equivalent metric.

Men Are From Mars…

Obviously, there are different ways women and men not only look at certain metrics but also how they interpret them.  For each metric, we will also identify some considerations that both men and women may want to think about when utilizing each given metric.

We are writing this post together; that way Bri can give the female viewpoint on what to consider for each metric, and Rick can give the male viewpoint on what to consider.

On to the Metrics!

Enough of the foreplay, we hope that you are sufficiently aroused to advance to the ‘meat’ of the article.  So, without further adieu, here are the metrics:

As you can see there are many different metrics that can be used in the dating game when you are looking for love.  And making head or tails of them can be difficult.

The way men and woman measure and interpret metrics can be wildly different.

And that is part of the problem.

But it is also part of the fun!

The key is to use whatever metrics you have, keep an eye on them and take action when necessary to improve your dating life.

Use it or Lose It:

When you are using metrics in dating or any other area of your life, make sure each metric is:

Easy to measure – If it isn’t easy to measure you won’t use it.

Related to Objectives – You will want to make sure they are telling you if you are on the right track

Actionable – Whatever metric you use, make sure it is something that you know how to take action on if it is going in the wrong direction.

When to Use It:

When you want to measure success and to understand whether the improvement initiative you have undertaken is working, or not.

What Do You Think?

Have you used any of the dating metrics we presented above?  How have you used metrics in self-improvement initiatives in your life? Please discuss in the comments below!

By the way, we are in no way saying you should call 911 and burden them unnecessarily.  So maybe instead of a heart attack perhaps it’s best to nonchalantly let it slip that you have an incurable STD that is highly contagious.  Just a thought…

Happy dating and until next time…PYMFP!
