How You Can Make Sure You Are Doing the Right Things…Right!

Are you so focused on doing things right in your life that you forget to understand if you are doing the right things?

In other words, doing things right can mean that you are doing the wrong things correctly.

Today’s lesson is about doing the right things.

Actually, it is first about doing the right things…and once you are doing the right things, doing them right.

A couple examples of doing the right things would be:

Instead of shopping around for a credit card with a lower interest rate, you should probably figure out how not to put so much $ on a credit card in the first place.

Or, instead of figuring out which diet du jour you should be on, you should figure out how to live a healthy lifestyle which would include eating right, exercising right, hydrating right, sleeping right.

Use It or Lose It

There are a couple of ways you can make sure you are doing the right thing:

Using a personal mission statement, which we discussed in a previous video, makes sure that you are doing the right things for your life. It makes sure whatever you are doing is aligned with your personal mission in life (the right thing).

Using a list of pros/cons or pluses/minuses can help tell you if you are doing the right thing.

When to Use It:

When you are trying to figure out if you should be doing something or doing the right thing.

What Do You Think?

So what do you think? Please comment on whether or not you are you focused on doing things right, or doing the right things?

Until next time, behave and as always…Prime Your Pump!

  1. Good morning Howie. I’m setting on the screened-in back porch facing the lake watching the jet skis and boats. Life in the Ozarks is GOOD. Typing this response on my BIL’s laptop. My wife and our sister have gone off to our niece’s baby shower and won’t be back until maybe 4 this afternoon. Which reminds me, when she returns following her afternoon of romp and frolic, I’d like her to watch this video. So, now some comments……

I detest fighting with my wife. There can never be a winner in such a situation. A bit of wisdom I learned from my Dad – the bedroom is always neutral territory.
My daughter only had difficulties in school with math, especially algebra. So we cut a deal – once you pass algebra, we are having a No More Math party. Go out and eat at a nice restaurant, followed by something in the way of dessert that’s decadent, sticky and gooey. This provided her with a positive incentive.
I know many people in over their heads regarding credit cards. My previously mentioned niece almost went bankrupt. I’ve been using credit cards since I was 21, and am proud to say that I have NEVER paid a penny in CC interest. All CC’s are paid off in full upon receipt of the bill. I have never paid interest on anything, except for the house mortgage. Cars, furniture, appliances – – all paid in full. The credit card companies are losing money on me. CC interest rates become irrelevant.
Since I stopped smoking in 2016, my weight has ballooned. I measure my weight by how tight my pants are around the waist, and right now they are being stretched to the max. I’m not a fan of diet plans, but am trying to reduce portion sizes, eat only 2 meals a day, and then the most difficult part – reducing snacks. Pretzels are the junk food of the Gods!
The subject of sex is too personal to comment on here in public. But that’s the reason I want my wife to watch the video. Nuff said on that subject.

    Have a great weekend.
