Personal Mission Statements – How to Stay on the Right Path in Your Life!
The tip for this week has to do with personal mission statements.
If you don’t know where you want to go, any road will get you there.
That’s why many people in their 50s and 60s aren’t happy with their lives. Because every time there was an attractive distraction, they would go in this direction or that direction. They don’t have a personal mission statement!
A personal mission statement keeps you spot on where you want to go.
My personal mission statement is ‘to generate positive energy into the universe’.
Having a personal mission statement that lasts for quite sometime is really good at keeping you focused on where you want to go, so you don’t get distracted by attractive distractors.
Use It or Lose It:
To create a good personal mission statement:
Imagine you have just died and are in a glass coffin and all of your friends and family are standing around your grave site.
The priest, rabbi, imam, or other relevant person says: “Here lies (insert your name). S/he was known and loved for (fill in the blank).”
That is your mission statement. For example, my mission statement is: “To generate positive energy into the universe.” So my epitaph would read, “ He generated positive energy into the universe.”
Keep it short and memorable
It should give you goosebumps!
When to Use ‘Personal Mission Statements’:
When you want to make sure you are focused on where you want to go in life
To keep from being distracted by ‘attractive distractors’
What Do You Think?
What is your personal mission statement?

Hi. If you would like to communicate off-line, it would be my pleasure. What is your phone number?

Howie – this will be a very thought provoking topic. I believe we are (or have been) taking a similar approach; but I label my quests as ‘life goals’, of which I have several, most accomplished. Life goals change as a person matures. As one goal is met, another may take its place. Such is the case with me. I would like to discuss this with you in greater detail, but do not think this forum is the proper locale.
