You have pushed it and pushed it – sending texts, checking social media, making calls, taking endless selfies – just as you always have. But then all-of-a-sudden you notice that you have made a critical error.  What a few minutes ago was your whole life is now nothing more than a useless piece of metal and plastic! Yup, you forgot to charge your cell phone!  As bad and seemingly catastrophic as forgetting to recharge your cell phone can be, there are some other batteries in your life that are much more important to recharge.

Those batteries are yours!  As much as we push our cell phones every day, many of us overachievers push ourselves even harder – and that is saying something.  And just as forgetting to recharge your cell phone can leave you feeling overwhelmed, lost, exhausted and anxious, forgetting to recharge your own batteries can elicit the same feelings. So sometimes it is not only necessary, but it is imperative that we give ourselves a break and get off the merry go round of life for a bit to recharge our batteries.

While there is only one way, at least that I know of, to recharge a cell phone battery, the good news is that there are a ton of different ways for you to recharge your batteries! Which is the subject of today’s blog post:

69 Ideas to Recharge Your Batteries

If you read my recent post on how to sharpen your saw, we discussed 4 dimensions that are common to most philosophies of life: physical, spiritual, mental, and social/emotional. So, with that in mind, we will break down our 69 ideas to recharge your batteries into things you can do in each of those areas, based on your interests, to recharge your batteries. These are just some fun suggestions that we have come up with to get you thinking. As always, remember to consult your physician before doing anything physical and if you have any other ideas, please share them in the comments below!

Without further ado, here are our 69 ideas to recharge your batteries:

Physical

(1)  Try a new workout – do a class, lift weights, run, try Pilates, CrossFit – switch up your routine!

(2)  Take a break from working out – instead of working out, try something less strenuous like going for a walk or just stretching.

(3)  Do some gardening – working on your ‘green thumb’ can be very relaxing!

(4)  Take a hike! – get out in nature and unplug from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life.

(5)  Get a massage – I love getting deep tissue massages – please keep the ‘happy ending’ jokes to yourselves please and thank you.

(6)  Take a sauna/steam bath/hot tub – but consult your physician first if you have any health issues.

(7)  Get a manicure/pedicure – not my cup o’ tea, but I hear they are great.

(8)  Have a cheat meal! – that is, if you are a healthy eater, if every meal is a cheat meal for you skip to #9.

(9)  Cook something different – go online and see if you can find a cool new recipe and see if you can re-create it and if it’s good, send some to me!

(10)  Rearrange your furniture – sometimes you need a change of scenery where you live.

(11)  Take a hot bath – again, not my thing, I don’t like sitting in my own dirt, but some people swear by them.

(12)  Stretch – but get warmed up first!

(13)  Catch up on sleep or have a nap – sometimes all you need is a good nap or to sleep a bit longer than usual. But don’t make a habit of sleeping in, you want to keep your wakeup times consistent to keep your circadian rhythms in balance.

(14)  Clean out your closets – if you want to it the right way, check out our previous post on the 5S method!

(15)  Go on a bike ride – but make sure to wear a damn helmet! And, please be safe.

(26)  Quilting/needlepoint – something that both of my grandmothers were into, I haven’t forayed into it yet but who knows what the future will bring? Maybe I will get into them and start blogging on them. What do you think of Prime Your Quilting or Prime Your Needlepoint? Kinda catchy, right?

(27)  Singing in a choir – Just don’t expect me to join you! I sing just about as well as I quilt and needlepoint!

So that’s it, those are some different ways you can recharge your batteries!

‘But wait!’, you say. ‘You promised 69 ways to recharge your batteries!’.

Great point, you are on the ball today! Hmmm, what was the 69th way to recharge your batteries????

Oh, that’s right!

(69)  Get it on! – According to experts, orgasms can bring about deep relaxation by flushing cortisol (which is a stress hormone released by our adrenal glands) and increasing endorphins levels. These increased endorphin levels help us to sleep better, acts as anti-inflammatory agents and relieve stress.

By the way, did you know that November 18th is National Orgasm Day?

Which reminds me, I should probably put it on my calendar on my phone, so I don’t forget.

Well, go figure, wouldn’t you know it…

recharge your batteries

I can’t because I forgot to recharge my cell phone last night.

Talk about an unhappy ending to a blog post! Oh well, at least my own batteries are recharged.

Until next time, keep recharging those batteries, and as always…PYMFP!
